Dear Parents and/or Guardians:
The following will be taking place in our class this week:
In French, students will be writing a persuasive piece of writing based on why the Easter bunny does or does not deserve a year off. Students will also be writing the top ten questions that they would like to ask the Easter bunny as a journal entry. There will be no dictation this week. For reading, students continue to learn about choosing adjectives that will describe a given character as well as how to find proof from the text to support their choice of adjectives chosen. Students will be given a listening test based on a small reading passage. Listening test will consist of multiple choice answers. Individual bench mark levels for independent reading have now been completed. Please ensure that your child is bringing home the appropriate level to improve his/her reading abilities.
In Math, students will be writing a test on division tomorrow. Later on in the week, students will be assessed on their ability to distinguish which math strategy should be used to solve the given problem. (Multiplication or division) Students continue to work on improving their computation skills for multiplication facts.
In Social Studies, students continue to learn about the Metis culture. This week, our focus will be on Metis artists. Ask your child what he/she has learned so far about the Metis culture.
In Science, students will be learning how to write up a scientific report using the scientific method while observing and conducting experiments based on the construction of a structure given a variety of different materials.
In the Arts, students are learning how to play the spoons, and are in the process of creating a musical routine with their object of creation. Students continue to learn the dance Jai Ho. Students are also learning how to sing along to the instrumental version of J’ai demande a la lune et l’oiseau.
I wish everyone a wonderful long weekend, filled with happiness, family, and friends.
Merci,
Madame McLean
